Relay For Life
|
First Methodist Relay team had a busy, fun year in 2008-2009. We begin in November and continued with coffee house, concessions at the youth basketball game, catered pot-luck and our annual yard sale. We participated in the countywide events: wine-tasting at Paris Winery, fish dinner at Ann and Dave's, t-shirt sales, ad sales for the relay night booklet, and the silent auction held on relay night. Kroger cards is a year-round event and this year raised $887.00.
Hillary and Minnie Lou Perkins were our nominees for Mr. and Mrs. Relay. Votes were cast with pennies only and they raised $166.00. This placed them runner-up in the team event. They were crowned our king and queen the next Sunday.
As always, the church supported our events and were generous with donations. We had 32 walkers and when credit for to-shirt sales are given we will have raised over $8500.00 for the fight against cancer. This places us third in team fundraising. Thank you.
