Reelfoot Rural Ministry
|
| |
Reelfoot Rural Ministries is located in rural northwest Tennessee. The four-county service area including: Lake, Obion, and Dyer Counties of Tennessee and Fulton County, Kentucky is an area of extreme poverty. Lake County, for instance, has the lowest "per-capita" income of any county in Tennessee and is 32nd from the bottom of all the counties in the United States. The mission effort at Reelfoot is multi-faceted--serving families through infant and toddler daycare to elder care by sharing hot meals. The emphasis is on preserving the dignity of every person that is served.
Paris First participates in the ministry of Reelfoot through work camps, Christmas toy and bike collections, providing needed financial resources by sponsoring yard sales and special offerings. In addition to these ministries, James Ross and Don Bell make frequent trips carrying donated food, clothing, and furniture to assit in the ministry.
Our church collects Campbell Labels (soup etc.) and these are turned in to Reelfoot Rural Ministry to purchase playground equipment. You may place your Campbell labels in the Campbell tins found at the Poplar Street entrance and in the Christian Life Center. You will find a list of accepted labels posted in the library and on the UMW bulletin board. This is a great ministry and yet another way to help Reelfoot Rural Ministry.
If you would like to donate an item to Reelfoot, contact the church office at 731-642-4764.
